Your right to compensation under EU 261/2004
Regulation EU 261/2004 means that if your flight is delayed, cancelled, or you face denied boarding, you’re not on your own. The rules cover flights departing from an EU airport and flights operated by a European carrier such as Aegean Airlines.
Aegean Airlines compensation for a delayed flight
If you flew with Aegean Airlines and your delayed flight landed more than three hours late, you’re entitled to up to €600 per passenger. The delay is measured at arrival, not at take-off.
Aegean Airlines compensation for a cancelled flight
If Aegean Airlines cancels your flight and tells you less than 14 days before departure, you’re entitled to compensation. Missed a connecting flight because of Aegean? You’re covered there too.
How much compensation am I entitled to?
| Flight distance | Compensation per passenger |
|---|---|
| Up to 1,500 km (e.g. London – Athens) | €250 |
| 1,500–3,500 km (e.g. London – Rhodes) | €400 |
| Over 3,500 km (e.g. London – Bangkok) | €600 |
When you’re entitled and when you’re not
You’re entitled to compensation when:
- Your flight is delayed by more than 3 hours at arrival.
- Your flight is cancelled with less than 14 days’ notice.
- You couldn’t board because of overbooking.
You’re not entitled when:
- Extraordinary circumstances hit (severe weather, air traffic control strike).
- You were told about the cancellation more than 14 days before departure.
How to claim compensation from Aegean Airlines
You have two options:
- Try it yourself through the Aegean Airlines website — you’ll fill in forms and chase customer service.
- Check your claim with Refundio — fill in a short form and we handle the rest. Nothing to pay upfront.
What if Aegean Airlines rejects the claim?
If Aegean Airlines turns you down, contact Refundio. We review the case, deal with the airline on your behalf, and if needed take it to court — at our cost, not yours.
