Your right to compensation under EU 261/2004
EU 261/2004 is the safety net for passengers when air travel goes sideways. If your flight is delayed, cancelled, you miss a connecting flight, or you face denied boarding, you may be entitled to up to €600 in compensation. The key: the cancellation or delay has to be the airline’s fault, not yours. The rules cover flights departing from the EU and flights arriving into the EU operated by a European carrier.
The rules also say the airline must provide refreshments and, if needed, overnight accommodation.
Air Dolomiti compensation for a delayed flight
If your Air Dolomiti flight is delayed by more than three hours, you may be entitled to compensation. As long as extraordinary circumstances — extreme weather, strikes — didn’t cause the delay, you should be paid for the lost time.
The payout isn’t automatic. You have to file the claim with the airline. If they refuse or ignore you, hand it to Refundio.
Air Dolomiti compensation for a cancelled flight
If Air Dolomiti cancels your flight without telling you at least 14 days in advance, you can claim compensation. And if they don’t offer a rerouting, you’re entitled to a refund of the ticket on top of the financial payout.
How much compensation am I entitled to?
| Flight distance | Compensation per passenger |
|---|---|
| Up to 1,500 km (e.g. Verona – Munich) | €250 |
| 1,500–3,500 km | €400 |
| Over 3,500 km (e.g. Rome – New York) | €600 |
These amounts are fixed by EU rules — the ticket price doesn’t matter. The compensation is meant to cover the disruption you went through.
When you’re entitled to compensation
You’re entitled when the airline fails its obligations and you weren’t told in time, or when the flight is delayed by more than three hours. You’re not entitled when:
- The delay is caused by extraordinary circumstances (natural disasters, strikes outside the airline’s control).
- You were told about the cancellation 14 days or more in advance.
- You were offered a rerouting that didn’t cause a significant delay.
- You didn’t make check-in on time, or you didn’t have the right travel documents.
How to claim compensation from Air Dolomiti
Two options. The first: contact Air Dolomiti directly and request the payout. The second, and far easier: let Refundio handle it. Fill in our form and we take every step from there. Our team has a long track record of negotiating with airlines.
What if the airline rejects the claim?
If Air Dolomiti rejects your request, don’t give up. Fill in our form and we’ll take it from there. The process can involve back-and-forth with the airline, gathering evidence, and sometimes legal action. No win, no fee — if we don’t recover the money, you don’t pay a cent.
