Your right to compensation under EU 261/2004
Regulation EU 261/2004 is the safety net for passengers when air travel goes sideways. If your EU-departing flight was delayed, cancelled, or you faced denied boarding, you’re entitled to up to €600. The rules cover every airline, Eurowings included, and put the airline on the hook for the trouble caused.
Eurowings compensation for a delayed flight
If you flew with Eurowings and your flight was delayed by more than 3 hours, you may be entitled to compensation. A delay can wreck the rest of your plans — missed meetings, lost hotel bookings, a missed connecting flight. You have rights here, and we’ll help you use them.
Eurowings compensation for a cancelled flight
If Eurowings cancels your flight and tells you less than 14 days before departure, you’re entitled to compensation. Cancellations happen for all sorts of reasons — but unless they were caused by extraordinary circumstances, the money is owed.
How much compensation am I entitled to?
| Flight distance | Compensation per passenger |
|---|---|
| Up to 1,500 km (e.g. London – Berlin) | €250 |
| 1,500–3,500 km (e.g. London – Porto) | €400 |
| Over 3,500 km (e.g. London – New York) | €600 |
The amounts are fixed by EU law and have nothing to do with what you paid for the ticket.
When you’re entitled and when you’re not
The entitlement kicks in when the conditions of EU 261/2004 are met. You’re not entitled when:
- The flight was cancelled because of a severe storm or other extreme weather.
- The flight was delayed by a strike of airport staff.
- The flight was cancelled because of a technical issue classified as an extraordinary circumstance.
