Your right to compensation under EU 261/2004
Regulation EU 261/2004 protects passengers when things go wrong in the air. If your Marabu Airlines flight is delayed, cancelled, or you face denied boarding, you can be entitled to up to €600. The rules cover flights departing from the EU and flights arriving into the EU on an EU-based carrier.
Marabu Airlines compensation for a delayed flight
If you flew with Marabu Airlines and your flight landed more than three hours late, you can be entitled to compensation — as long as the delay wasn’t caused by extraordinary circumstances (extreme weather, strikes). Marabu Airlines should also tell you about your rights, hand out refreshments and, if needed, cover a hotel.
Marabu Airlines compensation for a cancelled flight
If Marabu Airlines cancels your flight and gives you less than 14 days’ notice, you’re entitled to compensation. The airline should offer a rerouting or a refund. If you were told less than 7 days before departure and the rerouting doesn’t work for you, the full compensation is on the table.
How much compensation am I entitled to?
| Flight distance | Compensation per passenger |
|---|---|
| Up to 1,500 km | €250 |
| 1,500–3,500 km | €400 |
| Over 3,500 km (e.g. London – New York) | €600 |
The amounts are fixed by EU rules and don’t depend on the price of your ticket.
When you’re entitled and when you’re not
You’re not entitled to compensation when:
- You were told about the cancellation more than 14 days before departure.
- The delay or cancellation was caused by extraordinary circumstances.
- You didn’t check in on time.
One more thing worth knowing: if you accept compensation on the spot from the airline (vouchers, bonus miles), that can affect your right to cash compensation later.
