Your right to compensation under EU 261/2004
Regulation EU 261/2004 protects passengers when things go wrong in the air. If your flight out of the EU is delayed, cancelled, or you’re hit with denied boarding, you can be entitled to up to €600. The Regulation gives you a clear right to claim — and that money can take the sting out of a ruined trip.
Neos compensation for a delayed flight
If you flew with Neos and your flight was more than three hours late, you can be entitled to compensation. The delay is measured at arrival, not at take-off. If the airline is at fault (technical fault, crew problems), the full entitlement stands. Extraordinary circumstances are the only thing that takes the entitlement off the table.
Neos compensation for a cancelled flight
If Neos tells you about the cancellation less than 14 days before departure, you can be entitled to compensation. If you have a connection and the cancellation of the first leg means you risk a missed connection, the entitlement can extend to the whole journey — the condition is that all legs must be on a single booking.
How much compensation am I entitled to?
| Flight distance | Compensation per passenger |
|---|---|
| Up to 1,500 km (e.g. London – Rome) | €250 |
| 1,500–3,500 km (e.g. Berlin – Madrid) | €400 |
| Over 3,500 km (e.g. London – New York) | €600 |
When you’re entitled and when you’re not
You’re not entitled to compensation when:
- The delay was caused by extraordinary circumstances (extreme weather, strikes).
- You were told about the cancellation well in advance and a suitable rerouting was offered.
- You voluntarily gave up your seat as part of a deal with the airline.
How to claim compensation from Neos
You have two options. The first is to contact Neos directly and sort the claim out yourself. The second, much easier one, is to check your claim with Refundio. Fill in our form and we handle the rest. We work on a no win, no fee basis — if we lose, you pay nothing.
What if Neos rejects the claim?
If Neos turns you down, don’t give up. At Refundio we’ll take it on — from talking to the airline to going to court if that’s what it takes. Our team is built for cases exactly like yours.
