Your right to compensation under EU 261/2004

Regulation EU 261/2004 is a shield for passengers when things go wrong in the air. When a delayed flight, cancelled flight, or denied boarding wrecks your plans, the rules can hand you up to €600. The flight has to be connected to the EU — either departing from a European airport, arriving at one, or operated by a European carrier.

Norwegian Airlines compensation for a delayed flight

A Norwegian Airlines delay is a hassle, but EU 261/2004 gives you a way to get something back if the delay runs over three hours. Move quickly and keep the essentials handy — boarding passes and any confirmation of the delay.

Norwegian Airlines compensation for a cancelled flight

If Norwegian Airlines cancels your flight without enough notice, you can be entitled to compensation. Notice of less than 14 days before departure puts the entitlement on the table. Cancellations caused by technical problems or scheduling errors are on the airline — compensation applies.

How much compensation am I entitled to?

Flight distanceCompensation per passenger
Up to 1,500 km (e.g. London – Berlin)€250
1,500–3,500 km€400
Over 3,500 km (e.g. London – Bangkok)€600

When you’re entitled and when you’re not

You’re not entitled to compensation when extraordinary circumstances are at play — extreme weather, strikes outside the airline’s control, political instability, public-health crises. The same goes if you were told about the cancellation more than 14 days before departure.
